Admission

The MHH patient admissions team

The usual formalities have to be taken care of first. You (or a family member) should bring with you your

  • admission form and
  • health insurance identification card
  • Passport

to the main admissions desk located in the main entrance area and at the entrance to the outpatient clinics.

Here you will be asked some questions, and your personal data will be entered into the computer system. You will also be shown the general conditions of the contract you sign to accept treatment at the MHH.

As soon as these formalities are completed you may go to your ward or will be taken there if necessary. Please remain in your room until the admission examination has been completed.

Costs

If you have health insurance, your insurer will normally be responsible for general hospital services.

If no insurer will cover the cost of treatment, you are subject to the regulations for direct payment. This means that you are personally responsible for payment and must pay in advance. A list of current fees and charges is available at the main admissions desk.

Charges to the patient

Patients are charged ten EUR for each day in the hospital.

This applies only to a maximum of 28 days per calendar year, including any previous days spent in the hospital within the year.

The above charges do not apply to

  • patients younger than 18 years of age,
  • semi-stationary treatment, or
  • patients for whom hospital treatment costs will be paid by a welfare agency or by the federal accident insurer (BG).

Admission of parents or an accompanying person

There can be both medical and psychological reasons making it very important and necessary that a parent or other accompanying person be present in the ward for a time. Decisions on these matters are made by the consulting physician.

Generally it is possible for a healthy accompanying adult to be admitted with a patient to our clinic. The main admission desk has information about current prices.

However, accompanying persons can be admitted to a ward or clinic only if space is available. Our first priority is the well-being of our patients.
