On the 27th of March of 2015, the DIN working group "biobanks / bioresources" met for its third meeting in the premises of Hannover Unified Biobank of the MHH, in the Clinical Research Center (CRC) in Hannover. The standardization work in the field of biobanks and bioresources is a collaborative effort, which is done by the interested parties, the experts and the staff of the DIN.
The DIN staff and two dozen German experts from science, clinics and industry discussed various issues in the field DIN standards and biobanking and form in different focal points working groups.
The International Organization for Standardization's (ISO), whose national mirror organization in Germany, the German Institute for Standardization (DIN), is currently working on a standard setting for biobanks in the international context. The finalization of the standard or is expected in 2017.
For members of the DIN AGs "biobanks / bioresources" there was a possibility to visit the premises of the Hannover Unified Biobank (HUB) in CRC building.
