On 20th of January 2015 the 2nd Meeting of the North German Biobank Alliance (NBA) took place in the CRC Hannover. The NBA is an association of North German biobanks from Kiel, Lübeck, Borstel, Greifswald and Hannover to develop joint strategies for the establishment of biobank structures, data and sample management, quality management and administrative structures.
It is the aim of NBA to harmonize and establish common biobank structures and to create a network for exchange, cooperation and joint projects in selected fields in biobanking.
After welcoming the participants in the CRC by Prof. Dr. Thomas Illig lectures on biobank infrastructures, harmonization options for SOPs and business structures, collection of history data, biobank interoperability and backup solutions, certification processes, IT concepts and LIMS took place and the topics were discussed. Joint projects were clarified and resolved. After the lectures a guided tour through the premises of HUB followed.
