The “young faculty program” for advanced training of medical and life scientists was introduced in summer 2014 as a major step in the academic career of a “medical faculty”.
Every year up to 30 new candidates (medical doctors in their advanced phase of clinical training and senior Postdocs) can enter the 3-year program.
They receive 4-6 months of “protected” time each year to do research and teaching.
A career and research plan with international cooperations is required by the candidates as well as a clinical training plan by their mentors.
Candidates are supported with ~35 k€ per year (including 5 k€/ year for travel and consumables). They are supposed to collectively form a junior faculty to foster interactions.
