Hepatitis virus infections are among the leading causes for liver diseases worldwide. The clinical course of viral hepatitis can vary substantially between different individuals both in terms of recovery from acute infections as well as regarding the development of clinical complications in chronic liver disease. We aim to explore factors and mechanisms influencing the course of hepatitis virus infections which should help to personalize diagnosis and treatment of hepatitis B, C, D and E.
