On December 9th, 2003 the program was fully accreditated as the first PhD program in Germany according to European standards (ECTS)!!

    Selection process 2013:

      There will be a 3-step selection process:

      1. Written application (from December 1st; by April 1st, 2013) on www.hbrs-application.de

      2. Written test; Please note, there will be one date for India, no exceptions possible. (end of April/ beginning of May, Hannover April 30th, 1 p.m.)

      3. Interview:  Hannover June 17th/18th; Delhi and Chennai from June 24th 

          For interviews, we will invite most applicants to Hannover. In India (Delhi and Chennai) we are usually seeing candidates from India , and other South Asian countries (Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Bangladesh, Malaysia etc.)

      • Annual Workshop in Stephansstift, March 10th - 12th 2005. This time it was a great success. The 2nd years had to present a poster, all the others had to give a talk. We had lots of discussions. The atmosphere was fantastic. ( photos under "photos")

      • Christmas party on Thursday, December 16th, from 5 p.m., MD/PhD Seminar room. We had great fun, enjoying the international buffet and drinks, musical interlude by Dorrit and Susanne (playing the concertina and violin and singing Christmas songs), listening to Marlies telling us about international Christmas traditions, seeing the pictures of the DAAD photo session, and of course, the dance till late in the evening..
      • .Opening ceremony of the PhD program "Infection Biology"/Miditrain on Monday, December 20th, from 3.30 p.m., Forum of the GBF in Braunschweig
      • Final exams took place on Friday, November 12th from 12.30 p.m. (lecture halls G and H). The 12 Finalists were all perfect! Thank you very much to all internal and external (international) referees! We are very proud that 12 out of 17 students from the year 2001 managed to do their PhD within 3 years!       • Excursion to Bayer AG Research Center, Wuppertal, on October 29th. Very interesting!! ( photos under "more photos")
      • The 20 new students for this year have been selected. The project matching is finished.Orientation weeks started on September 28th, the official opening of semester was held on October 12th, 5 p.m.. The guest speaker was Prof. Dr. Hans Robert Schöler (Max-Planck Institute for Biomedicine, Department of Cell and Developmental Biology, Münster). He is very well known for his research on embryonic stem cells.( photos under "more photos")
      • Latin Party! and Intercultural communication! on Friday, July 30th, from 8 p.m. in the party room of house G (ground floor). Everybody, please, come!
      • July 8th "Career perspectives" and grill party. A full success.
      • June 29th visit to Solvay AG, Hannover. About 15 MD/PhD students got an inside into pharmaceutical industry and job perspectives. Extremely interesting!
      • Deadline of application was April 15th. The first selection was made by the beginning of May. The written test was done middle of May (Hannover, May 14th; Delhi May 10th, Hyderabad May 11th). Interviews were held end of June/July (India probably June 30th in Delhi and July 1st in Hyderabad).
      • Workshop on "Intercultural communication", on May 21st-23rd, Schloss Reisensburg (near Ulm). This was a joint workshop of the PhD programs in Hannover, Göttingen and Ulm. ( photos under "more photos")
      • Workshop in the Festsaal of the "Stephansstift" (Kirchröder Str. 44), Friday, March 19th to Sunday, March 21st with all students, supervisors, cosupervisors and lecturers. Every students had to present his/her project and we had discussions afterwards. This is an excellent opportunity to get to know each other.(photos under "more photos")

      • Final exams and graduation party: November 7th, 2003. 6 p.m. Speech given by Prof. Dr. David McConnell, Smurfit Institute, Department of Genetics, Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland on "Biomedical research in Europe: the American challenge".       • The 18 new students have been selected now. Term will commence on October 13th 2003. However, students will arrive on October 1st for the orientation weeks. A wide selection of activities is planned, to be announced soon.The official opening of new term together with the foundation/celebration of the "Hannover Biomedical Research School" took place on October 14th, from 6 p.m.; speech by the State Secretary of the Ministery of Science and Culture - Dr. J.       • Trip to the North Sea (August 23rd/24th)
      • An excursion to the Schering AG (Berlin) with 18 students. The visit was extremely informative for an insight into the pharmaceutical industry and future career expectations. (photos under "more photos")
      • The selection process is over. This year we nearly got 300 applications. The 2nd round (written test) will be finished by June 13th. The test in Hannover took place on June 3rd. Interviews took place on June 30th in Hannover, 3rd-5th of July in India (photos under "more photos")
      • Accreditation of the program by the ZEvA (Hannover) on June 24th. Every student will have to present his/her project by a poster.

      • We had our fantastic MD/PhD Christmas party on Thursday, December 5th. (photos under "more photos")
      • On Saturday, December 14th we went by bus to Lüneburg. This is a beautiful little town. We went on a guided tour and visited the salt museum and Christmas Market.
      • The visit of the brewery (Herrenhäuser Brauerei, Herrenhäuser Strasse) on Thursday 7th was great, especially the beer afterwards!We already had a guided walk through town (fighting against the storm!). Some of us even met the German chancellor Gerhard Schröder and his wife Doris.And then there was the fantastic Indian party in house G with music, dance, lots of excellent food (yummy). Nearly everyone was wearing typical Indian clothes and pieces of ornament. We all danced till the early morning. It was great fun. Many thanks to the organizers!!
      • Wintersemester 2002/3 The new students arrived safely in Hannover and started with their project work(photo under "more photos")
      • Term start on October 14th with a party from 5 p.m. We invited Dr. W. Krull (Secretary-General of the Volkswagen Stiftung) to speak on "Challenges of Change - Universities and Foundations of the New Europe". 
      • Meeting of the speakers from German medical PhD Programs A meeting of all German speakers and coordinators from medical PhD programs has taken place in Hannover on September 9th. Important topics were discussed: recruiting and financing students; medical students vs. scientists; "Weiterbildung"; curriculum, international standards, guest scientists, advertisements, etc.. Selection Currently the selection process for the students for the third year is performed. There will be a three step process: a. Selection based on the application forms and documents b. A written performance test c. Personal interviews (take place in Hannover and in India)
