
The joint institute FuDan University Shanghai Cancer Center – Institut Mérieux laboratory (FDUSCC-IM) is conducting ambitious research projects in oncology in China. This joint laboratory was created to promote interactions with hospital physicians and place public health as well as medicine at the heart of research activities. A dedicated research laboratory is currently running at the FuDan University Shanghai Cancer Center to develop and identify new biomarkers for early diagnosis of colorectal, lung and breast cancers. An international cooperation program (Immunocan) will start on January 1st 2012 involving 4 European partners (French, German, Danish and Italian) and the FuDan University Shanghai Cancer Center thanks the FP7 INCOLAB from the European Commission.

Job description:
The group, headed by Dr. Roland Jacobs, investigates functional interactions of Natural Killer (NK) cells with other cells of the immune system, such as dendritic cells (DC) and neutrophils. In this project we will study the mutual cellular interference in cancer patients by investigating the mechanisms in vitro (cell culture) and use techniques such flow cytometry and RT-PCR. Laboratory work will be perfomed at Fudan University Shanghai.
Highly qualified and motivated candidates with excellent diploma or master degrees in biology or biochemistry are encouraged to submit their application. We expect very good skills in English, a background or strong interest in immunology and/or cell biology. Excellent communication and social skills are required.
