
In 2006, the ICMR (Indian Council of Medical research) and the Helmholtz Society (including TwinCore institute Hannover, Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research Braunschweig, and HBRS) signed a cooperation contract.
The German Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research and the Indian Council of Medical Research have signed a new cooperatioon agreement. They will jointly establish an "Indo-German Science Centre for Infectious Diseases" which is to pool research and training capacities. The Medizinische Hochschule Hannover will also contribute to the new project and extra funding of 4.5 million Euro will go towards the new centre. First initiatives of the "Indo-German Science Center for Infectious Diseases" will include staff exchanges and joint training programmes for Indian and German researchers.
