2 PhD (student) Positions in Single Molecule Studies
2 PhD (student) positions in molecular physiology are available in the group of W. Steffen at the Institute of Molec. & Cell Physiol. at the Med. School of Hannover.
Our group focuses on the functional properties of the two motor enzymes, myosin and dynein. It is our goal to elucidate the mechanisms of force production at the level of a single molecule (Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA (2012) 109(14):5289-93). While our main approach includes biophysical methods, we also employ biochemistry and molecular genetics.
We are looking for highly motivate candidates with a strong background and/or interest in protein biochemistry, molecular biology, and biophysics. Applicants should have a degree in biochemistry, cell biology, biophysics, or related fields.
